The Challenge:
Computers & Structures, Inc. (CSI) is an internationally recognized developer of software tools used in the analysis and design of civil structures. With corporate headquarters in Berkeley, California and a satellite office in New York City, CSI enables the engineering community to operate more efficiently through the creation of targeted software programs and product support. In order to maintain its status as a world-class company, CSI needed a world-class network setup that would unify its East coast and West coast operations and give them fast access to data on file servers on opposite coasts. CSI needed a Virtual Private Network (VPN) tunnel to transmit voice & data securely between offices. The New York office also required a secure WiFi network separate from the internal Local Area Network network (LAN) for security reasons.

The Solution:
CSI’s Director of US East Coast Operations Asif Habibullah enlisted Myriad Tech Solutions to handle the Firewall and WiFi configurations. Myriad configured the ASA5505 to create a VPN between the two offices, and also created an additional wireless network that separated the wireless from the internal LAN, adding a layer of security and also mirroring the configuration at the company’s headquarters. Mr. Habibullah was impressed with the speed and accuracy with which the project was completed and explained, “MTS handled the situation perfectly and in a timely manner.”

The Results:
The services offered by MTS greatly aided in CSI’s stability and overall productivity. As soon as MTS configured the new VPN for remote access, the CSI coast-to-coast network was up and running, enabling them to access files across the country at lightning speed. Likewise, all security concerns were addressed once MTS setup and sufficiently tested wireless access to the newly constructed network that lay outside the LAN. As a result, CSI could resume business and start communicating internally as well as externally with clients. CSI no longer has to worry about security issues or a slow connection since MTS’s work ensures a speedy. Now CSI employees can travel freely between offices and maintain business as usual.
